This Insider Has Just Sold Shares In BRT Apartments Corp. (NYSE:BRT)

June 6, 2021 by Staff Reporter

Anyone interested in BRT Apartments Corp. (NYSE:BRT) should probably be aware that the Executive Vice President, Mitchell Gould, recently divested US$253k worth of shares in the company, at an average price of US$18.38 each. However, the silver lining is that the sale only reduced their total holding by 7.4%, so we’re hesitant to read anything much into it, on its own.

Check out our latest analysis for BRT Apartments

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At BRT Apartments

Notably, that recent sale by Mitchell Gould is the biggest insider sale of BRT Apartments shares that we’ve seen in the last year. That means that an insider was selling shares at around the current price of US$18.13. We generally don’t like to see insider selling, but the lower the sale price, the more it concerns us. We note that this sale took place at around the current price, so it isn’t a major concern, though it’s hardly a good sign.

Does BRT Apartments Boast High Insider Ownership?

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. BRT Apartments insiders own about US$59m worth of shares. That equates to 18% of the company. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it’s enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.

So What Do The BRT Apartments Insider Transactions Indicate?

An insider sold stock recently, but they haven’t been buying. Despite some insider buying, the longer term picture doesn’t make us feel much more positive. Insiders own shares, but we’re still pretty cautious, given the history of sales. We’re in no rush to buy! So these insider transactions can help us build a thesis about the stock, but it’s also worthwhile knowing the risks facing this company. At Simply Wall St, we’ve found that BRT Apartments has 5 warning signs (2 make us uncomfortable!) that deserve your attention before going any further with your analysis.
